This has been happening for over a year. It asks what should Firefox do with this file? It defaults to opening it with an Adobe program since it is a .pdf. I have tried to change settings for pdfs to open with Acrobat 8.1 vs. Reader. Doesnt help. The file is a .pdf file from a website www.rainsalestraining.com that I did download once years ago.

Note that I am NOT trying to open this file and have done a scan of every trace of this particular file to eliminate it from my computer but at least 5 times a day I get this pop up window.

Do you see this file in the Downloads History folder in the History/Downloads Manager (Show All Downloads)?

I do not, however I cleared all history and cache last night. I also always hit Cancel instead of Open.

Here is the screenshot I took today if this helps.

It is likely you've installed some sort of Adware onto your computer. Adware is software that is made to display tons of ads to you.

You can get rid of them by going into Control Panel, then under programs Uninstall a program In order to identify the program that is doing this, you're probably going to have to do some research about which ones to uninstall.

If this problem still proceeds, try going into C:\users\*you're_username*\appdata\ and try to find data files of the program that is causing this and delete it. The folders may be hidden, so you're going to have to turn on Show hidden files and folders
