How to make Firefox load tab session from cache
How can I make Firefox restore all my tabs from the cache instead of fetching all pages? All I want to achieve is that Firefox simply is in the exact same state as it was when it was last closed. This was no problem with Opera, but I couldn't achieve this with Firefox yet. I have disabled the "Don't load tabs until selected" option because the delay when switching to a tab annoyed me. But now Firefox always reloads all pages on startup which also is not what I find the sensible thing to do. Is there a "about:config" setting I could tweak to have Firefox load everything from its cache so I can continue working without having to reload all pages?

Hi jscher2000, thank you for your prompt reply. Actually I tested while still connected to the Internet, but I tried your suggestion of disconnecting. In Firefox 1 tab fails to load and I get the continuous green circle, 8 tabs fail with “problem loading page”, 4 tabs load the page from disc and 3 tabs are local (eg about:cache). The local ones load very quickly. In Palemoon 7 tabs fail with “problem loading page”, 26 tabs load the page from disc and 2 are local. The ones that it finds on disc still take typically 3 seconds to load, and in one case 10 seconds, (with a green circle) which seems a very long time to me. Are these pages trying to make an Internet connection? That’s annoying. I tried it with browser.cache.check_doc_frequency both 2 and 3, but it seemed to show the same behaviour. I’d like to be able to cut out that green circle and also solve the ones which don’t load at all. When I open the browser whilst online, the page load times are not much longer for those that failed to cache than the ones that cached ok. I don’t notice the difference in practice. My issue is one of load time rather than offline browsing. If I really needed it offline I’d save the page anyway.
