Do the keyboard shortcuts work?

• Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command + C)
• Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command + V)
• Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command + X)

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Most of the times i only use shortcuts.

Sometimes i do can copy something...but than only for a few times and then its broken again.

Also the problem excist on my laptop with the same windows 8 installation.

Everything in windows copy/paste/cut works fine except firefox which gives problems now and than.

Hello stephandeloos, in the second screenshot, the big one, we can see that you have in your profile a User.js file (dat voorkeuren bevat die niet door firefox zijn gemaakt) . The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget my reply, if you have not then try to delete the User.js file, to see if the problem is there (it happens some programs to create the file).

I tryed the following:

• First I deleted the User.js file since i never made this myself, didnot help
• Than I tryed to "firefox herinitialiseren" so it was a hard reset, didnot help
• Last i tryed to remove the whole roaming profile folder of Firefox, didnot help to

Any other Ideas i can try?

Like I said earlier, the copy/paste function randomly works sometimes...than its broken again. When I try Chrome for example...no problems at all and everything works fine.

Which Firefox version did you use in WIndows 7 before?

What security program do you have?

I think I used version 21.0 on Windows 7.

I got Firefox 22.0 on my laptop and now 23.0 beta on my desktop pc.

I use avast free antivirus and zonealarm as firewall. However borth shutting them down does not fix it

Try disabling Zonealarm, another user reported this behavior with zonealarm.

I went to the webpage you gave me and did the following:

- Closed firefox - Runned firefox.exe -p - Removed "default" - Made new user as "standaardgebruiker" (which it did by default)

still can't copy/paste :(!

Shutting down Zonealarm has no result either, should I try remove zonealarm completly? (disabling the functions has no results for now)

Using the clean utility to remove Zonealarm completly fixed the issue.

So like Waka_Flocka_Flame tought it was Zonealarm indeed!

This should be the problem completly because I am using it since Windows 8 and not in Windows 7.

Any idea how to run Zonealarm but still can copy/paste :)?

@stephandeloos: Try installing ZoneAlarm again with the newest version. Do not change the settings of ZoneAlarm (but deactivate program control at all, before setting control for Firefox), except the problem does not appear. Then you can try the next step with settings you wish. Look what happens. Tell us about it :)

After installing it opens Firefox right away and the problem exists again.

This is more a question to the ZoneAlarm Service. I doubt they intend to happen this. I think it's a bug of ZoneAlarm/(Firefox).

I completly sick of zonealarm, to much problems.

I will stick to Avira and Windows Firewall

I'm having the same problem. I don't use ZoneAlarm or Avira. I just use the built-in Windows Defender in Windows 8.

My problem started in v22 and I still have it in v23. I've tried all the suggestions posted at various websites, but I still can't copy and paste in Firefox.

Any ideas?

The same (as Dypsis's) problem with me. I don't have ZoneAlarm, but copy/paste doesn't work.

Urgently fix it in new release. Otherwise it's absolutely unprofessional.

Yes, it is becoming increasingly harder to find a reason to stick with Firefox with all the breakages we get now.

And this (so called) rapid release cycle is plain crazy.

I've been using Firefox since the early days when it was called Firebird and didn't even have an installer, but the direction Firefox is taking is bordering on ridiculous.

Mozilla is going the right way about killing Firefox off altogether.
