Is there a way I can disable images for just one specific website that won't load properly?

The website Epinions.com is not loading properly for me (since it went through an upgrade). Pages will begin to load and stop midway or only load a small amount. I'm getting frequent timeouts where pages entirely fail to load. I think one reason this is happening may be because the site is much more image heavy than it used to be. I would like to disable images on just that one site rather disabling all images in general. Is that possible? If so, how do I do it?

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6 and 7 versions.
You can try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 256 to 48 as used in Firefox 8 on Windows.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
  • Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

I tried this solution a while back and it doesn't seem to have helped. But thank you.

I have seen that I can uncheck "load images automatically" from the tools/options area (under "content" tab) but I really don't want to do this universally. I would like to try to find a way to disable images from the one specific website that is causing me problems (and which happens to be one I really need to access).

Thanks. It didn't solve it entirely, but it did help -- and I think I've figured out something that's working for the moment. I was able to block images for the one specific site when I went back in and tried -- which I wasn't able to do before I upgraded to the new release. Page-loads aren't perfect, but they're loading better than they have for me in days...and I will take that as a good sign!
