This issue happened to me once before. and I can't seem to remember how it fixed itself. If ANYONE has a suggestion for how to fix this, I would appreciate it. Seem to affect Internet Explorer as well. Yet I can log in to Facebook on Xbox Live and PS Network as well as my mobile phone, all with no issues.

Tried all ur suggestions for cache and network and add-ons. Nothing worked. it still gives the same error when attempting to access Facebook. Note, this happens with Internet Explorer as well. No access to Facebook on this computer. I have checked my firewall and it is not blocking Facebook.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

FIXED: After upgrading to FF 7 I started having this problem with lots of web sites (including support.mozilla.com and account.services.mozilla.com). I tried clearing my cache and history and made sure FF was authorized in my firewall. No joy. I fixed the problem by following the instructions in this post: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/771916
