Firefox works fine with all my progarms except Expat Shield. It used to launch but now says "Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:895. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer me. Ron

The problem is that xpatshield uses a service to redirect its traffic and this error occurs when Firefox is not receiving information from this service. Remedy as follows:

As Administrator, press the <windowsButton>+R when prompted type 'services.msc'. This shows the services on your machine. Look down the name column for those starting 'Expat Shield'. The 'Expatshield Monitoring', 'Expatshield Routing' and 'ExpatShield Service' should all be STARTED and startup type of AUTOMATIC. If needed right-click on the service and choose 'Start'.

A 4th service 'Expatshield Tray Service' should also be present. Ensure this has a startup of AUTOMATIC.

Then try connecting ExpatShield again.

You will find my advice on this and others on the WALL of the Facebook page of Expatshield at http://www.facebook.com/expatshield?sk=wall&filter=1
