With Firefox 5 for mac, web pages take too long to begin to load
I've a macbook pro, OS X 10.6.5, Firefox 5.0.1. Each time I try to load a web page, also a simple Google search or a Facebook post, Firefox hang on "connecting" for many seconds, with nearly no network I/O activity at all. Then, after 30/40 seconds, the page magically loads quickly. The problem doesn't happen with Safari or Google Chrome.

"Firefox never finishes loading certain websites"
No, Firefox take too long to begin loading ALL websites (no proxies, no malware, as I already wrote, Safari and Google Chrome works...)
Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can
Check and tell if its working.
As I wrote before, no proxies enabled on my system. I've checked the Firefox settings, they're already set to No Proxy, and network.dns.disableIPv6 is already set to true.
-> Close Firefox
-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding the SHIFT key while starting Firefox
OR
-> As an alternate method, go to Utilities (in the Applications folder) and open Terminal, then run:
/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode
Safe Mode window will appear -> click "Continue in Safe Mode"
Check and tell if its working.

I had a similar problem with Firefox 5.01 on my Windows 7 machine. Generally, the symptoms were rather bizarre and not necessarily consistent. I often simply closed and reloaded Firefox in order to be able to work in Firefox for a limited time. Finally I realized that the problems started when I upgraded to Firefox 5.01, so I uninstalled 5.01 and installed 4.01. Problem solved. I will have to leave it up to you code wizards to figure out 5.01's problem.
Firefox takes a long time to start up

Again, the problem is not the Firefox first start up, but the interval it takes before to begin to load every webpage. If Bookmaker did resolve it by downgrading Firefox, probably it's not an extensions problem, but a Firefox 5.0.1 bug/internal settings change.
-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Time range to clear: select EVERYTHING -> click Details (small arrow) button -> place Checkmarks on Cookies, Cache -> click "Clear Now"
Check and tell if its working now.
Try to disable IPv6.
Cor-el, already tested (see please 4th post). mha007, tested, but it seems doesn't resolve

Already done, as already suggested in your previous post.
-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
Check Cookie Settings

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
No firewall, I'm on a Mac. And Safari or Google Chrome work. Plugins update doesn't works (too slow)
If you still have problems, you can get a second opinion by scanning your system with an Online Antivirus Utility, such as:
TrendMicro Antivirus http://free.antivirus.com/
Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/activescan/
other Online Antivirus Scan http://www.google.com/search?q=online+antivirus+scan
Check and tell if its working.

mha007: I HAVE A MAC! I only now understand that the answers probably were automatic (except Bookmaker, of course), so it's only a loose of time, having already read the FAQs.
I will try to downgrade.
as you wish, sorry if i was unable to help. Here's the link to download a previous version
I apologize for my words, but I see that several times you gave me the same answers, and sometime you forgot that I've a Mac, so it seems to me that some answer was quite automatic.
Anyway, if you will find a solution in the future, please tell me (and tell to Bookmaker), so I will be able to install the future Firefox versions.
