Could not initialize the application's security component
Hello,
I installed Firefox 3, I did check for update, but 4.0.1 when running show me this message: "Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features."
I have Uninstalling 3 times Firefox but I see the same error and now I can't install Firefox, this is the question... My harddisk is ok, also and my permissions, there is not any directory of Firefox...
I have removed any directory of Firefox(also personal data)

After one week, I haven't any answer...
I would like to write me first: How do I fully uninstall and then: how to install Firefox;
I wait for your answer...

Go to Download Firefox 4.0.1 and download a fresh installation file to the desktop. If necessary, download the file with IE8 and choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.
After you complete the installation, go to the Plugins Check page and update those where necessary.
hello,
All things you write to me, I've done 3-4 times, just as you write, but what else I can do?
How do I fully uninstall and then: how to install Firefox;

thanks a lot...
Rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the file.
You may have to rename cert8.db (cert8.db.old) as well.
Firefox will create new files. If that works then you can remove the renamed files.

Did you find the Firefox profile folder?
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders"
To see the file extensions of all files uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types"
- XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

I'm not sure that I understand your previous answer.
Did you find the files cert8.db and secmode.db in the Firefox Profile Folder?
Can you attach a screenshot of the content in Details view of that profile folder?
Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
