I am having a frequent problem with the browsing history and appearance of visited links in Firefox 4. The problem is intermittent, and generally happens when I have been browsing for an hour or more. The same events seem to happen each time: First I notice that visited links are no longer changing appearance. Old visited links are marked but not recent ones. If I close and reopen the browser I find the visited links being marked as normal, but the most recent visited pages are now missing from the Browsing History. They had been visible in the History before I restarted Firefox. Older visited pages are still present. I have Firefox set to "Remember History" under Tools>Options>Privacy.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks :) It might take a while as I can't reproduce the problem reliably - it seems to strike out of the blue, often after hours of browsing - but I'll post if I get any results.
