Why does "open in new window" not work in Firefox 4?
I have a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop that I'm using Firefox 4 on, and have a problem with the "Open Link In New Window" function. It simply does not work. When I right-click on a link on a webpage, and select "Open In New Window", the window that comes up is completely blank. However, "Open In New Tab" works just fine. This wasn't a problem with v.3.6. Could you help me with this please?
On a related note, if I have multiple windows of Firefox open, the toolbar arrangement in these subsequent windows becomes completely different from the default layout I have in the original window. The "correct" layout should have the tabs next to the orange Firefox button, and the address bar beneath. In the "incorrect" layout, the orange Firefox button occupies its own line, the address bar and related buttons move beneath the orange Firefox button, and the tabs move below that. And no amount of playing-around with tab layouts, including selecting "Tabs on Top" seems to resolve this.

I had a "New Windows" problem on both my XP and Windows 7 machines. Turns out it was the Google toolbar - disabling that fixed the problem.
The idea about the google bar was good. In my case disabling the Yahoo bar did it..
Do you have more than one monitor and the problem only exists on the secondary? If so, have a look at this thread: https://support.mozilla.com/de/questions/794823 It seems that turning of Firefoxes Hardware Acceleration helps some users. Sadly, it does not work for me. :(
I have no toolbars to disable, so I have to deal with it...
Unfortunately, I do not have any toolbars or similar add-ons to disable. I use a plain browser interface with very few, conventional plug-ins like Adblock, and despite having upgraded to Firefox 5 now, the problem persists. Thanks for the suggestion, nonetheless.
Like you, I neither have toolbars to disable, nor do I use multiple monitors. It's just my plain old laptop. I was hoping the update to Firefox 5 might fix this issue, but it doesn't seem that way. Perhaps a switch over is due.
