Just today, firefox began slowing down and soft crashing for minutes at a time. During this time, I can interact with websites, but it doesn't change the visuals or show that anything has changed. new tabs open but don't show up, youtube video audio plays but the screen remains fixed. Firefox usage for just 7 tabs is well over 5 gigatybes of ram and 10-20% cpu at all times.

I attempted everything on the help page, including: killing and restarting firefox, updating firefox, updating windows, restarting my computer, killing firefox and rebooting again, disabling extensions, and updating graphics drivers.

after rebooting with the new windows update, firefox ran smoothly for a brief minute and showed normal cpu/ram usage, but quickly climbed back up to pre reboot numbers.

Yep, sloooooowww, some pages won't open, have to refresh it once or twice, to finally get it to open. Currently Firefox is using 15 gigs of memory, and I don't have anything streaming.

it wasn't a crash, it's unresponsive for a few minutes at which point I usually kill the task and restart, but it can come back on its own.

I've read all the "helpful" articles and done numerous actions they suggest, and Firefox still loads plenty of blank pages, runs up the RAM. It's currently at almost 26 GIGS OF RAM now, and this if ten minutes after clearing cached memory, which brought it down to "only" 15, but it's now jumped up 10 Gbs in about 15 minutes! This is really out of control...

Now it's gotten up to nearly 50 GIGS OF RAM!! What the hell is going on with Firefox???

Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
