Message Pane sometimes does not display the message
I'm using Firefox Version 60.8.0(32 bits) on Windows 10. Using POP3 to download messages. The message pane most of the time immediately displays the selected message. But once in a while, I just get a blank message pane. The if I hit the "Today Pane" button, the message will appear. Also another related issue. Sometimes when I read an email that has in-line multiple images, one or more may be missing. Sometimes all the images. If I hit the "Today Pane" button, most of the time the message and the pictures will appear in the message pane. Other times it may leave a space or spaces where an image should be. Any suggestions to eliminate both issues?

Hi NJoldtimer, since you mentioned "Using POP3 to download messages" and the "Today Pane," I think this question probably belongs on the Thunderbird forum. I'll flag it for a moderator to move it over.

You are correct. It is Thunderbird. Thanks for flagging it.
Test 1: Start Thunderbird in 'Safe Mode' https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird Please keep using Thunderbird in Safe Mode to see if the anomaly occurs again. If it does occur then perform Test 2.
Test 2: Computer: There are two versions of safe mode: Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking. Please start computer in 'safe mode with networking' mode.

Start Thunderbird as normal.
Do you still get an issue when starting and using computer in 'safe mode with networking' ?
Please report back on Test 1 and Test2 results.
Starting Thunderbird in 'Safe Mode' did not correct the issue. Test 2 also failed. The latest release of Thunderbird(68.1.2(32-bit)) has mostly eliminated the issue. Every once in awhile, I get a blank image in a frame.
re :Every once in a while, I get a blank image in a frame.
If the image has remote content, then Thunderbird will disable it by default. You will see a black outlined box will a broken file icon in top left corner. But usually, you would see a message that states that the email contains remote content, unless the email was in the 'Junk' folder in which case all remote content is disabled and you would need to move the email out of Junk into eg: Inbox in order to get the options to allow you to see remote content if really desired. Remote content in messages:
Person may not have added image correctly or used a product that created incorrect headers. If they copy pasted from a webpage, then it is likely they inadvertantly also added a load of remote content. other possibilities.
