What is the best way to convert from 52.9esr to the current Quantum release?
What's the best way to convert from Firefox 52.9esr to the latest Quantum release, while keeping my bookmarks, history and anything else that is compatible with Quantum? Windows 7 64-bit. Thanks.

Hi, you can stay where you are and and still get esr in the 60.2 soon. Firefox 60.2.0esr will be out Aug 21
Or you can uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Thanks, I was hoping I could just do an on-top install LOL. I'll probably mark your post as the solution and follow your suggestions, but want to give it maybe another 24 hours just in case anyone else has any experiences/advice to share.
Just as a little background, at least 7 or 8 months ago I had installed 52esr for a friend so he, like I, could get more life out of some add-ons that are incompatible with Quantum. During a webinar this morning a message said he had to update Firefox because it was outdated (even though it was 52.9esr). So he did, by downloading and installing the latest (non-esr) version -- but without uninstalling esr. What he ended up with was one shortcut that opened Firefox 61, with the other still opening 52.9 esr -- and both using the same profile. That seemed like an invitation to conflicts and errors (and I noticed that with the dual install most add-ons had become disabled in his 52.9), so I system restored his pc back to a week ago, and also replaced the profile with the version pulled from the same restore point.
Anyway, I know that before too long he -- and I will need to move to one of the latest Quantum versions, thus my question on the best way to do it.

Hi, correct, you can not install esr and regular release as it will make 2 as they are two different products.
Also yes, if not installed properly if do want two browsers installed it ends up sharing a profile which can loose data from.
So tall and short of it is they (esr and regular release) are not compatible unless installed with the right info and can have 2.
With using the Full Version Installer of 61.01 it will install ok, after uninstalling the esr. It may use the Profile with no problems but I suggest a backup as I put in the suggestion as just in case, can not blame me..

The basics since forever in having ,ultiple builds is is to have them installed in separate folders and use separate Profiles for each whether on Windows, Mac OSX, Linux.
