Hello,

When I navigate to a donation page https://www.nowdonate.com/checkout/tz1b185t70mv25xgq55b, I can't go back to the previous page, unless I hit the return button twice, and quite rapidly. Otherwise I get stuck on the donation page. This happens only in Firefox, other browsers work fine. Can someone please advise what the problem is?

Thank you very much.

That is a site restriction and there is nothing FF can do about it. I seen this on various sites and some popups that gives me headaches. And I have seen this on Chrome, FF, IE so it's not just a FF issue.

Hi WestEnd,

Thank you for your reply. Can you please say more about the 'site restriction'? This happens only in Firefox I'm afraid, I tested it on Chrome and Edge and there the return button works fine.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, Try : Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.

Hi Pkshadow, thanks for your reply. This issue happens on my computer and it also happens for other people who visit the page, but I can't ask everyone to reinstall Firefox. Could there be another way to solve this please?

Thank you very much.

So another person has this problem is it on the same computer or different computer and what about other Browsers do they do the same? Sometimes the reason why you can't Go Back is a site programming to prevent double typing or Spamming on their site and you have to force your Back function to work. And also with ads running on their site that also monkeys up Browser button functions as well forcing fast clicking of the Back option to get out of the ads loop. If this is happening on more then one computer then you need to contact their site Webmaster and complain about the problem to have it fixed.

Are you getting to the 'bad' page via a shortcut?

I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.

You can possibly hold the left mouse button on the back button to open the tab history list. That would allow to skip some intermediate page links.
