When I open a new 'compose' email, it opens with my default font (comic sans, large). If I close it prior to sending, and reopen the draft, the font and size have changed to sans serif, normal. Please, is there a way to fix this? I use gmail and firefox

Hi, please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Sorry to say that didn't solve the problem. I keep checking to see if the bloody Windows 10 updates somehow change my Firefox settings, but they don't seem too - they just change Windows settings. I'm frustrated!

Step 1: Log in to Gmail from your Web browser.

Step 2: Open the settings menu in the upper right-hand corner and choose Labs.

Step 3: Scroll down to "Default Text Styling" in the list, and enable it.

Step 4: Click on the General tab of the settings and find "Default text style."

Step 5: Adjust the font-face, size, style, and color of the text to your liking.

My Windows 10 with Firefox and gmail does not include "Default Text Styling" in the Labs. I have the "Default text style" in General and that is set the way I want, but it doesn't seem to do the job by itself. I do appreciate the prompt response from you folks, but so far, nothing helps.

Please note : Anabadyo's answer was not asking you to make changes in Firefox or Windows but in Gmail itself.

I understand that the changes were to be to the Gmail settings, but as I said, my Gmail settings do not include "Default Text Styling" in the Labs. I have the "Default text style" in General and that is set the way I want, but it doesn't seem to do the job by itself.

@ azgayle :

As none of the suggestions here seem to work for you, would you consider posting a question here :

Thank you. I've tried that previously with no help, but I just posted another request. I appreciate everyone's help!

I also see some weird effects if I use the steps that you describe and it looks even worse it you switch to a different font (i.e use more than one font in the draft). Reopening a draft doesn't seem to preserve all font information. That is one of the reasons I do not like rich text editors. I prefer an HTML or plain text editor where you can see what code is generated and where you can correct and cleanup mistakes you made to keep the resulting document clean.

If I move the cursor around then I see the correct font selected, but once I start typing then new text is in the default font. I checked it with the Inspector and I'm not seeing any font-family rules other then one at the start when I reopen a draft, so all formatting is lost.
