Any way to hide the Trash, Sent, and Drafts folders for some (IMAP) accounts?

Hi!

I've been using thunderbird for some time, I am currently using 38.1 on Win 7 64 bit. I have multiple IMAP accounts set up, along with a local folders entry. I have things set up so that Sent copies are not saved, and the draft folders setting for both IMAP accounts is set to save to Local Folders->Drafts.

However, both imap accounts still have Sent and Drafts entries (which take up valuable space). Is there any way to remove or delete these? I'd also just as soon hide the Trash entries for the imap accounts as well if possible.

I did find this earlier thread - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1010341 , and looked into the unified view. It doesn't really work that well for me though, since I still have all those entries (albeit in one mimimizable place instead of duplicated across all three accounts), and it makes my folder show up in a bit of a weird order. I've also found the "Hide Local Folders" extension, but this is kind of the opposite of what I need - I'd like drafts to show up there, instead of in the IMAP accounts.

Thanks for any tips!

They come back after a restart? Computer restart or what?

If you turn the message pane F8 of, does it stay off or reappear in the same way?

Select an IMAP account in the folder pane. File (Alt-F) - Subscribe Unsubscribe from any folders you don't want to see.

Thanks for the response - I've tried that previously, just confirmed again that that does not work. It works for real mail file, but unsubscribing from those three does not - they do not disappear even when unchecked, and when I come back they are just checked again...

Haven't seen any more replies, does noone else get annoyed by this? Was hoping that there might be some easy fix :( Thank you!

I have thousands of folders, so a couple of extras really don't make any difference.

But you might check the setting in Account settings > server settings > advanced that the show only subscribed folders set

Checked those settings as well, doesn't help unfortunately. The issue is that these are *always* checked as subscribed. Unchecking them does not work - they will always come back as being checked (and hence displayed).

I also have thousands of folders - but I don't like that three top-level slots per account that I never use are forced to be displayed... Would prefer that screen space to be used more efficiently...

What I meant was that when I open subscriptions, uncheck the three (Sent, Trash, Drafts), and click OK to close the window - they continue to remain displayed, and when I reopen subscriptions, they are checked again. I interpreted this as there being something that prevents them from being undisplayed?

This applies across restarts of thunderbird and the computer as well.

I guess I could try creating a new profile from scratch, and re-entering all of the mailserver configuration, but was reluctant to do so because this was happening on every account, and seemed to be a global configuration thing.

Would appreciate any further thoughts - had been hoping that there was some flag somewhere in the advanced settings, but guess that doesn't seem to be the case?

Thanks, Mark
