Firefox:

1. has been crashing all the time for about two months now and losing my tabs 2. is now giving endless "Script has stopped responding" messages whenever I try to load media (only loads static pages) 3. won't even play teleseminar replays 4. won't respond to uninstalls/reinstalls, resets or reboots.

Can anybody help?

Can you start Firefox in Safe Mode?

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
  • On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Hi Cor-el, thanks for your response.

I figured the problem had to be a new antivirus I had installed/old one I'd uninstalled, so I went to control Panel and uninstalled the new antivirus plus any other new programme that wasn't from a trusted source (they'd actually "installed themselves" because I never knowingly installed them!).

And my problem seems fixed! I'll monitor Firefox over the next few days and see whether everythings OK, then I'll mark this as solved. Sorry I didn't think of uninstalling the programmes before posting here :/
