How do you change bookmark folder names?
I cannot figure out how to change the names of folders and reorganize my bookmarks. The new method of just clicking on the star and getting all bookmarks placed into an unsorted folder drives me crazy! When you click on the star the second time, you can designate where the bookmark goes, but if you create a new folder for it, you do not get enough time to type in the folder name, so now I have a bunch of "New Folders." This is much more difficult than the previous version of Firefox.

I tried it myself; the timer is rather short. Here are two methods to change your folder name:
- After double-clicking the star icon to bookmark a new page and then opting to make a new folder, you can double-click on the "New Folder" to edit the name.
- To change the name of a folder from the Bookmarks Menu, right-click on the name of the folder of interest, select "Properties", and then edit the name.
If you don't want to create a new folder when bookmarking a new page, a fast way to bookmark is to simply drag the tab to the Bookmarks Menu icon and then drop it in where you want it.
I hope that helped you!
Are you using Firefox Sync?
There used to be this issue with the previous version of Sync that caused Sync to kick in too soon when trying to create a new folder. I haven't seen this mentioned yet with the new Sync used in the current Firefox release, but if you use Sync then try to disconnect (temporarily) top see if that works.
Bug 697649 - Enabling bookmarks sync with firefox causes initial naming of "new folder" to lose focus
Thank you, Epicaleb, I will try this!
Thank you for the information, Cor-el. Yes, I am using sync, so will try disabling it on my laptop to see if that makes a difference.
My suggestion to rename is: 1. Click View/sidebar/ then select bookmarks. All your bookmarks will then be permanently displayed in a sidebar. 2. Find the bookmark or folder you want to rename 3. Right click and select "PROPERTIES" 4. Type new name over the existing name 5. Click on "save"
