Stopping developer windows from opening

Sometimes when I go to a websites (cnn,msn, redit,ebay, amazon) the developer window opens. I when to about:config and turned all the items off but it is still happening.

The system is windows 7 with all patches, latest version of Java and firefox.

How do I stop this ?

Sometimes when I go to a websites (cnn,msn, redit,ebay, amazon) the developer window opens. I when to about:config and turned all the items off but it is still happening. The system is windows 7 with all patches, latest version of Java and firefox. How do I stop this ?

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Are you pressing any of the possible shortcut keys (F12, Ctrl+I/J or others) that might open the developer toolbar or Web Console are haven't you pressed any keys including the Ctrl key when this happens?
