I have set my home page in Tools > Options > General. When I open a new tab, I am shown thumbnails of different sites I have visited. I have gone to about:config and changed browser.newtab.url to about:home as I saw suggested elsewhere.

When I open a new tab, the behavior is the same. Only if I press the Home button do I get to my home page. How do I fix this?

Correction. On opening a new tab now, instead of seeing the thumbnails, I see the Mozilla themed Google search. Still though, not my set home page.

Hello machinka, if you set about:home then is for the Firefox Google home page, you see the correct for the setup you set. you must set google.com or yahoo.com or machinka.com etc.

see: How do I turn the new tab page off?

In the last update to Firefox an extension was added Home Tab 4.5 I have disabled this extension and the problem stopped happening. Top left of browser page click on Firefox Tab select add-on then select extensions on left of page disable Home Tab 4.5 .
