I believe this phone is using a ARM11 which is of ARMv6 architecture and is not supported as a result.

The mobile Firefox builds for Android 2.0+ are for phones with a ARMv7 cpu.

There were experimental ARMv6 builds before but they were larger, slower and more unstable due to not supporting the Thumb-2 instruction set.

silkphoenix, that is not a complete list to rely on though as there are many phones and tablets that are compatible and not compatible that are not on page.

And it is listed on page actually as the "Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace" in the These devices have ARMv6 processors and are not compatible with Firefox for Android list.

In that case, someone at Mozilla will need to update that list because normal users like me can only depend on that list, which, as far as I know, is the only list I find. So do you have another link that can bring us to an updated list?

One more point, I believe most mobile phone users don't even know if their phone is a "ARMv6 processors" or whatever, I have a HTC EVO 4G and I don't even know how to find out if I am on a "ARM11" or "ARMv6". I have to depend on that list to find out if my phone is compatible with Firefox Mobile or not.

It just takes a little Googling as the phones/tablets are often listed in wikipedia and also some websites that have specs about the phone lists the cpu and or whether it it is ARMv7 or ARMv6 type (if it says ARM11 instead then it is ARMv6).

Your phone uses the Snapdragon series of cpu by Qualcomm and all models are of ARMv7 CPU Instruction Set.

That's the thing about Android is that while some like the NVIDIA Tegra 2 series has been popular with say tablets and some phones (NVIDEA is only really supporting ones with newer versions released this year now), there are a huge list of a variety cpu's being used by phones/tablets that run Android with most probably using either ARMv6 or ARMv7 Architecture. There are some others like say Rockchip RK2818 (ARM9) in use by say the Ainol Nova 5 that most defiantly will not run mobile Firefox and has trouble playing Angry Birds even.

The Qualcomm MSM7227 (in used by Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace) is pretty common but it is of ARMv6.

While I appreciate the information you provided about how to find out what kind of cpu my phone is using, I don't believe it's reasonable to ask any Firefox users to: 1) Google what cpu is your phone using; 2) Check if it is ARM or whatever; 3) Check with Firefox to see if such ARM is being compatible or not.

That's why the link I posted is so much useful and it should be updated continuously as new phone models are being rolled out almost daily, if not weekly. If Firefox is trying to get into the Mobile market to compete with other mobile internet browsers, they will have to work harder. If any users (at least for myself) see that a phone is not on the list, he/she is not going spend time to look into the cpu information, etc. He/she will just forget it and use other internet browsers. At least this is my opinion.

Personally, I would rather see Mozilla dump this mobile device browser project and direct their time and resources toward fixing all the outstanding bugs in the desktop/laptop versions. I have been waiting since 2002 for them to fix the print-related bugs that have been in Firefox since that time. View in Firefox, and then open IE/ Opera / Safari / Chrome to print the web page has existed for too damn long. Why can those other 4 browsers print web pages completely and better than Firefox? It's almost like the entire organization has ADD, they can't concentrate on anything long enough to fix it completely or build it completely before switching their attention to the "next big thing" coming down the pike or the next new feature.

I'm not a programmer but I think that since I run Ubuntu applications where someone is in the millions is a need to recompile to run on ARM processors at all firefox is just a program written and already adapted to the ARM processor and is not able to? so it is with flash player, however, Adobe is already working and ace galaxy has to be one of the first devices that will get him. I bought my phone a week ago not too little money in it so the processor must be current, what with adobe flash player and firefox did it, unless it decides to Skyfire. Firefox promised to be great ...

While the Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 is pretty new at being released back in March it is however not using that great a cpu as it is a ARMv6.

While Android 2.2 and newer has Flash support, the mobile Firefox browser (Android) does not support the Flash plugin.. yet.

Currently I have an android version 2.3.4 Rooted device is much improved battery performance and productivity, however, neither flash nor firefox can not see the android market ....

Android Market on your phone will not likely list Firefox since it is not compatible anyways.

I think this might be the last nightly builds made for the ARMv6 (hence the nothumb). The 4.1a1pre is in reference to early development of Firefox 5.0
