Want to go back to ver 29.0.1 - Ver 30 Not Working

For some reason, ver 30 doesn't work for me. Nothing wil load - it's as if there is no internet access. The Internet Explorer works fine.

I see the advice about it being a problem with the firewall, but I don't know what's wrong or understand how to fix it. I changed my options from automatically install updates to "Check for updates, but let me choose..." and then I did a system restore, and went back to ver 29, but the option to automatically download also was restored, and ver 30 reloaded and will update next time I open Firefox. I tried this twice and am stuck at the same place.

Is there a way just to restore previous version? I'm hoping that sooner or later Norton and Firefox will get back in sync ...

Thanks!

Chosen solution

Remove the Firefox Rule, restart your computer, and then open Firefox. Norton should ask you to allow Firefox.

If you update to 30, and then try the steps at Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can does that help?

No, the proxy server thing didn't work. I don't know about the other two options (the ipv6 and dns prefetching) Would those be something that always worked but for some reason stopped working with ver 30?

The most important thing I'd check is the internet security software, that frequently breaks Firefox updates.

I tried, but don't know how successful I was at checking this. In Norton, it's an on-off switch. I turned it off, but ver. 30 still would not load any websites ...

Clarity on last response ...

Norton Internet Security only has the option under Web Protection of Browser Protection as an On or Off switch. I turned to the off position, and Firefox still will not load. There is no list of trusted programs that I could find ...

You need to look in Norton's Firewall rules then, the Web Protection is not your Firewall.

Maybe https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v1028140_NIS_Retail_2012_en_us will help.

I'm sorry, I'm not a techie ... I don't know what your message is telling me ... I found a rule for Firefox, the options are Allow (checked) Block and Custom.

Since Firefox is checked as allow, what should I do?

Here's what I found in Norton rules ... If I remove Firefox, as in screenshot 2 at the bottom, will Norton ask me to add Firefox back in when I Open Firefox? I'd really, really hate to mess this up

WOW ... A very nervous two minutes ... Ver 30 loaded and is working fine...

Thank you so much for the help -- and especially for your patience ... I was very intimidated mucking around in Norton ... Thanks for holding my hand - and having the right advice!
