An empty gray bar appears at the bottom of my screen/window between the horizontal scroll bar and the add-on/status bar.

The empty gray area is just under 1/2 inch high and runs the entire width of the screen/window, minus the left side bar.

When I hover in that bar, nothing happens. When I right click in that area, nothing happens.

This empty gray bar appears on every website I visit in the exact same locations, which means it is a Firefox issue, not just isolated to one website.

Have disabled add-ons to see if the space disappears. None of my add-ons had an affect this area of the screen/window. The empty gray area is still visible.

Chosen solution

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

That same empty gray area is also visible/remains even in full screen mode. It remains when I re-size my FF window as well. Please help me remove that area.

Does it look like this picture ? I had to restart Firefox to remove the gray box.
