Hi!

I have an question & I hope someone can help me out. I had to help my stepdad to sort some e-mail stuff out. I accidentally deleted one of his accounts where he created all kinds of different maps in for important e-mails etc. I was so close crying, i feel so bad, is there any way to be able to recover them? I looked online but I can't really find a solution, if there is one.

Best regards, Celine

Ok, no easy answer. If account was IMAP (ask stepfather), the data may all still be on server. If a POP account, read this article carefully: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_deleted_mail_accounts

Do not make any changes without first verifying what is there. Do NOT delete everything and reinstall thunderbird, hoping that will give rebirth; that could eliminate what you're seeking. Go slowly.

Thank you for your reply & info! It was a smtp account. He needed to make a new safer account imap or pop from the provider but my mom made 3 accounts and he only wanted one of course. I will look at it when i'm there this week and I will do it more carefully and slowly like you said. Does that also work for a smtp account or is that only imap or pop?

Thanks again!

On your SMTP question, that is the outgoing server definition and applies to both POP and IMAP.
