My bookmarks went away after I selected the option to make firefox faster offered this past week. Can I get my old bookmarks back?

A message showed up recently on the firefox screen offering to speed up mozilla. I selected the option and it did speed up firefox, but my original bookmarks are gone. Are these bookmarks recoverable? I have had no luck with te library function of recovering/restoring bookmarks.

It is possible you have used the Refresh feature in Firefox and created a new profile.

You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created.

You can recover data from such a saved profile, but be cautious to recover possibly corrupted files.

Note that "Reset" creates a new default profile with a time stamp appended to identify it and tries to recover settings like bookmarks and history and passwords and history and cookies and auto-fill data from the old profile, but you lose data like installed extensions and other customizations.
