Can't activate bookmarks toolbar after importing bookmarks from Safari. All I see is "Getting Started."
I seem to have exported my Safari bookmarks and imported them to Firefox on my new MacBook Air, but I can't make them appear in the bookmarks toolbar. All that toolbar shows is a "Getting Started" prompt, which I have gone through and completed its survey.
Chosen solution
When Bookmarks are imported via the HTML format into Firefox the Bookmarks Toolbar, or whatever that "bar" was called in the other browser, won't be 'imported' directly in the Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar. The user needs to rearrange their 'imported' bookmarks and place the bookmarks that they want in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in Firefox.

Is it freezing, very, very slow? Is anything wrong with the bookmarks on your Safari?
Let's do this on the Safari:
These instructions are for Firefox. Other browsers should also be able to do this.
Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Export Bookmarks To HTML, and follow the prompts and save it to a HTML file. Copy the file to another computer/profile. Repeat the instructions above, BUT select Import Bookmarks From HTML.

Mozilla search: Import {web link}
All of my Safari bookmarks have been imported. I can access them using the Bookmarks>Favorites pull-down menu. And I don't want to risk reinstalling them.
I just can't see them in the Bookmarks Toolbar. All I see there is "Getting Started."
Ahh. The toolbar may not be present or not recognized by Firefox.
Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
You can set things up as you wish.
Where is Bookmarks Manager? Don't forget, I'm doing this on a MacBook Air under Mojave.
I don't know MacBook Air.
OK. Thanks.
The Bookmark Organizer is called the Library window, and you can call it up using either:
- (menu bar) Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
- Command+Shift+b
- menu button > Library > Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
This will usually open with the "Other Bookmarks" category listed out. In the left column, click Bookmarks Menu to see whether your Safari bookmarks are in a folder on there. You can move items from the list on the right to a category on the left using either:
- Drag and drop
- Cut and paste
Can you get the ones you want on the bar onto the bar?
