I have cookies enabled, and l still get the messages from sites that I have cookies blocked
First of all, I HATE that cookies are now an all or nothing proposition. I liked it better when I was ASKED for each site if I wished to accept cookies. That said, I have cookies enabled and a LOT of cookies that are apparently from sites I've never visited. But, my "log me in each time I visit" or "keep me logged in" doesn't work, and too many sites keep telling me that I have cookies blocked.
I've gone through the help topics. Checked my settings against what the help topics SAY they should be, and they match. I am STILL having problems.
The latest changes to FireFox have me so frustrated, irritated and confused that I am seriously considering removing FireFox from ALL of my devices. Why did they screw up something that worked so well?

Are you using Private Browsing mode?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
You see the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case content is blocked by Tracking Protection.
- click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection
- check the Web Console for more detail about what content is blocked by Tracking Protection
- "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer
