When I am on the web after a bit most of my browsers turn into text format. How do I fix this to stop from happening? I changed my security program that I thought was making this happen, but after a few months it started happening again. I am using Trend Micro. This is very frustrating and I would like to get this fixed. Thank you

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

This did not work it only worked for about 30 minutes and now it is back to text format.

Is this the problem where the page loads but doesn't have the correct style, but if you reload using Ctrl+r it quickly snaps into place? Or are the pages just busted and reloading doesn't help?

One of the things that happens in a reset is that you get a fresh, clean cache. When this happens, you can try clearing your cache manually to see whether that helps.

To load the page without using any cached files, reload using Ctrl+Shift+r

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

But you shouldn't have to do that often, so we need to consider other causes for the problem.

UPDATE Not sure if it helps, but I started using Chrome today. Problem happened in Chrome too. I then came across this Chrome Forum. http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/8-RXiHZq5d0%5B1-25-false%5D

I am using Samsung laptop and have now uninstalled Samsung Support Centre to see if that helps fix issue.

Hi

I have the same problem. Start using firefox and then after a period of time (30 mins to few hours depending on amount of browsing) some web pages stop loading properly. Examples are google loading without the google doodle showing, Amazon Seller Central web page tabs that normally reveal drop down menus when you hover over them no longer show drop downs, other amazon Seller Central pages fail to load fully (some spinny thing just keeps going round and round) and on other pages just the old school bright blue links listed down left hand side of page. To fix the problem each time I previously used the Firefox Factory re-set.

As recommended by jscher2000 I tried Ctrl+Shift+r and that also works in getting things working but also only temporarily before problem returns.

I am using Windows 8, Firefox 20.0.1, Shockwave 12.0.2r122. I onl;y mention shockwave as had previous problems with Adobe programmes in firefox so may as well throw it in there.

Many thanks Justin
