Firefox keeps forgetting default action set for ZIP archives, keeps switching to Open With non-existing WinRar.ZIP, when its WinRar.EXE, or saving file

Started with FF18, continues on FF19. Can't remove non-existing application "WinRar.ZIP" from Options/Applications and FireFox keeps switching the default action to saving file instead of opening it with WinRar.EXE, which was set as default action and worked until recently. Now every other day (I guess upon restarting Firefox) I have to re-set the default action for zip files, because it saves the file instead of opening it as its supposed to.

You can delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder to reset all file actions.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder
