Why does every site, even Mozilla's, detect my Firefox as an old version when I have the up to date version?
My Firefox is updated, I have the 7.0.1. version, when I open Tools and click about Firefox it shows me just that, the 7.0.1. version. But every time I navigate to a website that offers download for it, I get the message I need to update. Even here, at Firefox help, the site warns me: Warning: Firefox 3.6 will only be maintained with security and stability updates for a short period of time. Please update to the latest version of Firefox. Also if I want to install an add-on, I can't because 'it's not available for 3.6' I uninstalled it and installed it again, no use. What could be the problem?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.extra.firefox
Right-click that preference and select Reset
Then restart Firefox

Thank you, it worked perfectly. Every site sees the right version now.
