Thunderbird issue with unread deleted messages

Thunderbird is set to flag a message as unread only after 10 sec of reading. Sometimes I delete a message before this time and Thunderbird still notify me that there are unread message also if the inbox has not unread message. The issue will persist if I don't restart Thunderbird or if I don't find that deleted message and set it to read.

Only Thunderbird gives this issue, other email client don't notify me about unread message if i delete a message but still be flagged as unread.

Any solution to have unread notification only for inbox? Thanks.

Matt, thanks fr the reply. I know maybe the default is to flag message as immediately read but I set to have it flagged only after sometimes as other email client also allow. This create the issue I reported but I find a solution also if I don't think is good that Thunderbird need a specific settings to resolve this issue.

Solution: In the Thunderbird settings on general tab search for the section Incoming Mails and look at the option: change preference for the app icon. Near you will find a button App icon options. Here need to change the setting from count of new messages to count of unread messages. This seems resolve the issue.

Long time since I have this issue and in the past i left Thunderbird for this. In those day I try to return and found again the issue and now maybe found a solution. Thanks for the answer and your time.

My Thunderbird marks message as read immediately for me. Have you tried changing the preference in settings?
