Is there a working add-on like Conex/tab-groups

I was using Kesselberg's Conex add-on for years because it most closely approximated the functions of the old Tab Groups in Firefox. It worked great until the latest Firefox update, but now it's broken, and he hasn't updated it since 2019, so I think it's a dead project at this point.

I've tried Simple Tab Groups and found it pretty useless for my purposes. I've been experimenting with Tab Stash and it's a little better, but still really not what I want.

I want something at least similar to Conex: an icon up top that I click to get a dropdown menu of all of the groups that I've set up, maybe with a search box to find tabs that I've forgotten which group they're in.

Does anyone know of anything like this that still works?

I haven't tried Conex. What broke for you?

I don't see any recent reviews reporting problems on the Add-ons site (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/conex/reviews/) or any new issues opened on Github (https://github.com/kesselborn/conex/issues). Perhaps there is some conflict specific to your Firefox, or maybe none of the other 790 users is using it enough to lead them to post something.

Thanks. Maybe I made the wrong assumption. I quit and restarted Firefox yesterday, and all of the groups/containers that I had set up in Conex were gone - replaced with the default set (Personal, Shopping, etc) - and all of my many, many tabs were dumped into a group called default. All of my pinned tabs had also become unpinned. I haven't added any new add-ons in the last few days, so I don't think it's a conflict there. Conex does seem to be working, so maybe a file got corrupted or something? I can't figure out if I have any backups of the Conex data - it has a backup function built in, but no Restore option that I'm seeing, and no indications of where the backups are stored or what they're called.

I had never changed the "Allow automatic updates" option from Default to On, so maybe I never had any backups anyway? There's no indication of whether it Defaults to On or Off.

It sounds like something went wrong with Firefox's (or the add-on's) index of containers, so when your previous session was restored, the container numbers were no longer defined as your custom containers. I'm not familiar with what could cause that.

Firefox stores container data in containers.json in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

I have read in other threads from time to time that after the user disabled the Firefox Multi-Account Containers extension and re-enabled it, their previous container organization was not restored. So it seems a bit fragile.
