Hi bubo115115, you could try this first: New Profile Test This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test your problem site(s). Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it. Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like Nov2019, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button. After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Launch profile in new browser button. Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test. Do the problem site(s) work any better in the new profile? If not: You can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Nov2019 will remain available for future testing.) If so: You could migrate key data files -- but not everything at once, to avoid reintroducing the problem. See: Recover important data from an old profile.

Yes, It's working well in new profile. So I was wondering, I tried checking about: config I surfed a few options, I saw a strange role called: SearchSecure I tried resetting those settings to the original but failed. I just realized that a few months ago, my computer was infected with this malware. I removed it from my computer immediately.

So finally, I chose the "Refesh" my Firefox way. Although it will take away the current working tab and some settings, I have finished it in an hour so it's okay. Thanks for supporting me anyway.

Google's predictive search feature uses a predictive search algorithm based on popular searches to predict a user's search query as it is typed, providing a dropdown list of suggestions that changes as the user adds more characters to the search input.

Hi bubo115115, do you recall approximately when the suggestions stopped working?

Do you recall going into the about:config screen and changing any settings that affect the address bar drop-down, such as the number of results to display?

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

Yes I understand what you mean. But the problem is that it doesn't show the website addresses that I've ever visited in history anymore. That's problem. Normally when I type the first few characters, it will appear.

Thank you

Yes. Thank you for your support. First, i didn't change any options in Setting or Config... I also tested with Safe Mode but it's not working. I don't know exactly what error with it.

If not:

You can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (Nov2019 will remain available for future testing.)

If so:

You could migrate key data files -- but not everything at once, to avoid reintroducing the problem. See: Recover important data from an old profile.
