FF 59.0.2 (Win 7)

For last many weeks haven't heard the AOL 'you've got mail' sound Ver. 59.0.2). Do hear it on Pale Moon, Internet Explorer. Disabling Add-ons didn't help.

System sounds are good.

Thank you

"No" as in : "No, I don't use Thunderbird"  ?

Guess you hadn't noticed that I had posted that message to bleepingcomputer.

And no, do not use Thunderbird. As I stated, I use, in addition to Firefox, Pale Moon and Internet Explorer-- and DO hear 'you've got mail' in those browsers.... Have been searching the 'net for weeks and find nothing there, no one else (seems) to have this problem--which started weeks ago...

Would you consider this extension  ?

Worth a try ......

Thank you for this suggestion. However, it does ask permissions "storage: Store settings Monitor extension usage and manage themes: Read extension names for human readable extension notification settings Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history: To make a sound when downloads finish Access your data for all websites: Intercept when websites display a notification Access browser tabs: Toggle muted status for websites from tab context menu menus: Add context menu item to tabs" and I'm not quite comfortable with this.

But, Do appreciate the suggestion. Thank you.

To give you some insight into the reason why these permissions are needed, would you please take a look at this article :
