We correspond with our VA via Secure Messaging. Received and email telling me that they had responded to my question and provide a link to myhealth.va.gov. It will not open on Mozilla, but changed over to IE and it opened right up. I get "Problem loading page" every time I try. Will have to switch to IE if this cannot be resolved. Been using Firefox for a very long time and like it. Hope you can fix this issue. Thank you in advance. Jeff Yielding

Hi Jeff, the site does claim compatibility with Firefox: https://www.myhealth.va.gov/mhv-portal-web/web/myhealthevet/browser-compatibility

Honestly this site seems a bit flaky to get onto. Slow to load and sometimes timing out. I can get onto the home page eventually:

https://www.myhealth.va.gov/

Can you get to that home page?

If so, can you find your way to the message from there?

If not: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

We also see site issues caused by features or add-ons that partially block content, including:

(1) Tracking Blockers

Firefox has a built-in one that is used in private windows. More info: What happened to Tracking Protection?.

There also are some popular extensions, including Disconnect, Ghostery, and Privacy Badger.

In some cases, pages do not work correctly with these solutions applied. The source of the problem might not be obvious so you may need to just make an exception from time to time when things do not work correctly.

(2) Ad blockers

For example, Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin are popular extensions to reduce advertising in pages.

Sometimes their understanding of a page is incorrect and something important is blocked. But I suspect not on a .gov page.

(3) Cookie Management

Firefox can be set to restrict cookies in various ways that affect sites where you need to log in. This article describes how to make sure Firefox isn't blocking cookies: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them (first section only).

But there also are add-ons that modify how cookies are handled...

At the moment the www.myhealth.va.gov website loads quickly. A while ago it didn't load at all and I got a time out.
