My Thunderbird is infected. My mail server rejects messages I didn't send. The Mozilla support note on this issue DOES NOT contain a solution. Help!
My copy of Thunderbird version 38.5.1 is almost certainly infected with a virus. Each day, I receive dozens of replies from my email server rejecting email messages that I DID NOT SEND. My first attempt to communicate this problem to Mozilla resulted in a reply which directed me to a Mozilla web page containing notes from others who had experienced the same problem, however, NO SPECIFIC SOLUTION WAS DESCRIBED THERE. I have hundreds of email messages saved within Thunderbird folders that CANNOT BE LOST. What "specific" sequence of steps do I perform to delete this virus while preserving those email messages? Thanks. Michael Ault, [email protected]

Here is how that works. You post your email address somewhere or use it to sign up for some give away and a spammer borrows your address. Then they use it as the return address for all the junk they send. If it was really coming from your account the messages going out would be in your Sent folder. This has nothing to do with Thunderbird.
