There are some pages that show that you need update your Firefox or Flash but they are fake pages, to check if your plugins are update go to Firefox Official plugin check page.
Could your provide a screen of the message?

Adobe Flash was updated once in December, 3 times in January, and once thus far in February. More security updates than they released in the two years before Dec 2014. It seems that as soon as a new version comes out, the security "white hats" out there find a fault with the new version of Flash that can be easily exploited by the "bad guys".
When Mozilla issues a 'block' for plugins due to reported security issues, Firefox automatically switches to "Ask to Activate" to protect the user, and to remind him/her that they do have an "at risk" plugin installed. All that does is add a few clicks to be able to run a Flash presentation.
The latest version - Flash Player 16.0.0.305 - is available here: https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
That 16.0.0.296 that you updated to was out since Jan 25 and then on Feb 4/5 Adobe released 16.0.0.305
Before December Mozilla did not add Flash versions to blocklist since Jan-Mar 2013 depending on OS as the versions since were not of serious security concerns again until recently. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/blocked/
