Why does the "never activate" selection in the "tools" menu not stop the Aobe Flash from running when selected??

When set to "Ask to activate" - - - "You Tube" blocks the Adobe Flash, however on Yahoo Home Page the "ask to activate" is no longer appearing (AS OF TODAY). When I selected "never activate", even You Tube auto activated!!

Also I notice there is a special add-on for controlling the Adobe Flash Player. Why is there a special add-on when it can be controlled from the "Tools" add-on designations? What has changed since the latest version of Firefox was installed on January 17th. With the major problems Adobe Flash is experiencing this is an extremely serious problem.

It's not the computer. Nothing has changed on the computer other than the latest version of Firefox being installed.

ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED.

I checked the status once again, and since I reverted to the "ask to activate", I am no longer having the problem cited above on Yahoo.

I reconfigured one of the addresses on Yahoo, and everything suddenly returned to its previous status. Apologies for the (perhaps) premature request for assistance.

You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

You can inspect and manage permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Cor-el, thank you for the detailed information on dealing with individual sites, and how to control "permissions".

Fred, thank you as well for recommending the Flash Block. I've never used it yet, however appreciate the reference.
