I tried to manually update my laptop last night from 33.1.1 to 34.0. When I click on the 'Update to 34.0' button, it immediately changes to 'Restart to Update' - nothing was downloaded. I try clicking on the Restart button and nothing happens. I exit and re-start Firefox, and I'm still running 33.1.1. OS is Windows 8.1. I get the same results this morning on my desktop (Win 7).

Update - It now works on Windows 8.1, still doesn't work on Windows 7

The page for downloading "All Systems & Languages" Firefox versions will give you the Firefox 34.0.5 version that sets the default search engine to Yahoo if you are in the US timezone area. If you are in the US timezone and haven't changed the default search engine then you get switched to Yahoo! and you would have to revert this change manually yourself and set Google as the default search provider via manage (change) search engines.

Thanks for the feedback. I already knew about the installer download, I was just looking to let the Firefox people know that there appeared to be an issue with their update. I checked my Windows 7 computer today and the update button works now. Thanks again.

I'm getting the same thing (Restart button not working) trying to upgrade 34 to 35 on a Win 7 x64 desktop. Don't recall this happening going from 33 to 34. Manual shutdown/restart of Firefox leaves me in 34, with a repeated offer to update to 35.

Several users have reported this issue. Have you successfully updated to version 38, and have all your "Restart to Update"s worked since then, for example updating to 39?
