Firefox for Android cannot connect to websites when using a VPN
When I use Firefox on Android Lollipop, it works fine. When I switch on my VPN, FF stops working. All other apps work fine, as does Chrome. If I type in an IP address Firefox can navigate to it without a problem.
It seems a bug was posted for KitKat: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=947801
Is there any way of getting around this problem? I REALLY want to use Firefox instead of Chrome. However, I don't want to root my phone to change Android config files or anything.

In other words please try the build at https://aurora.mozilla.org and see if that build does not have the issue mentioned in this bug report.
I have sideloaded Aurora onto my Nexus 5 but it too cannot load webpages under VPN.

I have been having the same problem. I'm really new to Mozilla support & Bugzilla. I downloaded Aurora onto my Samsung Galaxy S5, and I seem to be able to load pages under my VPN at this time. Sometimes this only works for an hour or so and then stops working, so I will check back.
Here is my newbie question:
Is this the same issue currently being worked on here? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=991923 If so, ffuser334, you may want to follow that.
Should I report to that bug page if Aurora keeps working for me? It looks like a fix for the 991923 bug is being pushed back till at least March, and I wonder if whatever makes it work here could help move that up. But I'm really unclear on what new info is useful to the developers.
I have been successfully using Aurora for several days now. Is anybody out there? This might be a work-around for you for now, if you are still having this issue.
But, I still want to know how to share this info with the developers in such a way that will be useful.
