Why can I download files from the system adminestrator account but not from a user account?

I'm using a virtual school online. When I sign in on the adminestrator account, I can download files from the virtual school and they fall right into my downloads folder. When I log in with my child's user profile, all the downloads error out. There is a file created in the download folder with zero bytes, and a partial file that contains the download. I then must manually re-name the extension of the partial file to use the downloaded information. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Can you share the URL of the virtual school? Knowing which software they use will help finding the possible cause and other similar reports.

What security software do you have?

Did you check its settings to make sure that it isn't interfering with downloading files?

When the download finishes properly then Firefox should rename the file with .part appended to the name without the .part.

I don't know if the post a lot of technical information on the portal site, but there is the link. You'll forgive me for not providing logon information, but I hope the link helps.

I am using the latest Firefox (Ver 32) and the latest Mavericks on a Mac Book Pro. I have no security software or add on's/plug in's. I try to keep my computers very "Vanilla", they seem to be more reliable that way.

Thank you for being willing to help!

There are quite a few specific requirements and conditions to get that site to behave as expected with Firefox, according to their documentation: http://www.k12.com/cse-results?query=firefox

I'd suggest calling their 1-800 number and explaining your issue, this is most likely something other users have reported to them and they may be able to provide a work-around.

I would also suggest trying with a previous Firefox version and disabling automatic upgrade while you do.
