How do I hide messages like "Waiting for ...." that appear in lower left corner of Firefox window?

A small tab appears in the bottom left corner of the Firefox window. It displays messages that tell what Firefox is doing - like "Contacting LandofToys.com" or "http://xxxx", etc. How can I hide that information. It is distracting.
