FF does not display action buttons on some websites like "continue", "add to cart", "checkout", "submit", etc. In addition the entire masthead with all page links is missing from NASCAR.com

I asked this question on 1/6. A suggestion appeared but nothing in it that I tried did any good. The question shows 5 other people with the same problem but someone has marked it SOLVED. Well, it's not solved for me.

I've updated Java, updated Adobe Flash, changed page style using 'no style', 'basic style' and 'Wiki' whatever that is.

original question:

Sometimes if I move the cursor around, the 'hand' will appear and I can click as if I could actually see a link button. Problem is, I have no idea what I'm linking to since it is blank. Other times there is no way to continue or submit. In all cases if I go to IE there is no problem.

Same thing is true of some websites, NASCAR in particular does not display the masthead or 'dashboard' where page links for the site are located. Again, the information does appear on IE.

Did you try all the suggestion in the KB articles that I posted in your previous thread [*] ?

Cases handled in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Website_colors_are_wrong also have to do with missing background images and you need to check that as well.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks for your efforts cor-el. I've gone through your list of suggestions and nothing works. In fact, the problem is larger than I first thought. I have opened IE alongside FF and compared various pages. Now I see that major portions of the sites' formatting is lost in FF.

I don't know if these items mean anything - I've never visited Error Console before:

Warning: Error in parsing value for 'top'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://i.cdn.turner.com/nascar/.e/css/2.1/pkg/2.1.home/257.css Line: 1 Warning: Error in parsing value for 'background'. Declaration dropped. Source File: https://support.mozilla.com/media/css/common-min.css?build=2d0a4d1 Line: 1

There is an endless list of items such as the above.

I'm going to give up on FF and move to IE - something I never thought I'd hear myself say. It's a shame - FF was once a really great product.

Thanks again.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
