Whenever I try to create a new calendar event, or view a previous one I have created, it is just a blank grey screen. I am not able to edit anything on it.

Try this: start TB in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB, or Help/Restart with Add-ons Disabled), check 'Reset toolbars and controls' and click 'Make changes and restart'. Any difference?
No that didn't help unfortunately! Still exactly the same problem.
What are your versions of TB and Lightning? If you have TB 60, you can remove Lightning and reinstall 6.2.5 from the website:
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/
Is this happening with a network calendar, and do you use a calendar add-on such as Provider for Google?
