I'm using Debian Linux. My Firefox browser was downloaded from Mozilla. Not installed from a distro repository.

I have the option "Restore previous session" checked.

Also, I'm using the new Firefox extension: Firefox Multi-Account Containers. Disabling this extension does not solve the problem

Terribly sorry. I had somehow an open window in a different desktop. This is why the session suddenly was not restored.

But did you check your privacy settings to make sure those boxes where not checked so that if you closed the Browser all history and links will clear out?
