The names of my shortcuts with "Custom Buttons" have dissapeared. How do I get them back?
I have an add on that I use all the time called "Custom Buttons". It's always had the name of the shortcut....for instance "Amazon" has the NAME Amazon by it. Now they are gone after Firefox updated. How do I get these names back? I don't like just seeing the little icons. You can scroll over them and see the names but I want them shown all the time. Help me get them back. Thanks.

Hi, all old (Legacy) add-ons will stop working in Firefox 57 scheduled for release 14th November, and some are already broken. Only new add-ons known as WebExtensions will work. This is probably what is causing you issue.
You mention Amazon and shortcuts - by that do mean a bookmark - maybe on the bookmarks toolbar? You can create any name for a bookmark by right clicking > Properties. Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!
Thank you for responding, but I know that. I already have many bookmarks in my Bookmarks folder. What I was talking about is an add on I have called "Custom Buttons". It allows me to have favorite sites I go to regularly at the top of my bar with an icon of that site AND the name of that site. This is separate from other bookmarks.
BTW, all of a sudden they had the names back on them yesterday. I don't know how or why,......don't care.....just happy I got the names back.
I do NOT want some of my add ons I love to stop working. HOW can I NOT have Firefox 57 install automatically? I would be very unhappy if I lost my "Custom Buttons".
OK you can download and use the ESR version 52 of Firefox which will work until June 2018.

In the interests of security and compatibility with websites, this is NOT recommended, but you could turn off updates and stay on the version 56 you have now. Options > General - Firefox updates.
We are all in a similar position to you with our add-ons - including me!
Hi Scribe. I now have 56.0.1 (64 bit) and am happy with it for now. My buttons have their names back and I can open my emails again.....that was another problem I had.
BUT....WHY do they have to "reinvent the wheel" all the time??? WHY do they have to create updates that will wipe out our present add ons and things we like?? I don't get it!
I just picture someone....or people....sitting at their desks thinking they have to "create" something new to keep their job(s). If something works fine, I think they should just leave it alone unless they are just going to enhance it and NOT change what we already have and love.
Just IMHO.
I'm sure you are not alone in thinking that. A large majority no doubt want a browser that just works when they need it, and aren't interested in improved security and (possibly) extra speed. The UI (User Interface) will also be changed in a fairly big way, so time and statistics will tell how successful it's been!
If you really can't do without certain add-ons, and no WebExtension alternative is available, it might be worth looking at having a backup browser such as Pale Moon which is like FF used to be, and on which most 'legacy' add-ons will continue to work.
