Why do I get a "File Not Found" message from a drop-down menu in a website where there was no problem before?

Some drop-down menus in the Ancestry.com website don't work when I'm using Firefox. I get "File not Found" messages with advice to try again or check the spelling of the URL. This did not happen until recently. I refreshed Firefox because I was having this trouble, and it seems to be worse. I have tried the same operation with the Ancestry website using Safari as the browser, and the drop-down menu works perfectly then. I have liked Firefox in the past and have used it for a long time, but the changes in Firefox are interfering with my work. I don't know enough about the technology to figure out what is wrong with the browser now.

I notice a few issues with your video drivers. Could you please re-install or update them. AMD Radeon R9 M290X https://support.amd.com/en-us/download

I also notice you have Java installed and enabled, did you update it this week as new version released. https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_controlpanel.xml

If that fails to fix things please try Firefox in Safe mode : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Then extreme case as this was a solution before : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I have some questions about the solutions suggested above. When I use the download URL for AMD drivers, I don't see any under Radeon R9 that are for Mac OS; they seem to be for Windows only. Are they necessary? Where would I find them for OS? I did update the Java, but get a message that Firefox no longer allows Java plug-ins and it's recommended to use Safari or another browser. ?? I haven't tried the Safe mode yet, but I'm beginning to think I should just give up on Firefox and use another browser. It doesn't seem worth the trouble.

Maybe check the order of the installed languages in case your primary language isn't supported.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
