To, whom this may concern,

I recently notice the changes on FireFox 48.0.1 where the address bar drop down fonts has been made smaller, wondering if there is anyway to make the address bar drop down fonts bigger or as it was in the previous versions?

I already have a short sight vision & wear glasses by making the font size smaller than previous versions is current a big problem for me at the moment.

Help on this matter would be appreciated, Jessica

Dear jscher2000,

I just done what you advice me which works really well when I'm using FireFox original theme, thanks.

Tho, I use the add-on appearance Simple White X theme & in the drop down menu the links after each address title such as: instagram.com seems small still, besides all that everything is ok now.

I think it could be a problem on the theme itself. But, after using FireFox original theme everything is alright.

Thanks You

Hi Jessica, some users are complaining they're too big! Maybe it's a difference on the Mac?

You can modify many parts of Firefox's user interface using add-ons and custom style rules. For example, I posted a "user style" which offers some different formatting options for the autocomplete drop-down. The simplest way to install and experiment with it -- in case you need to enlarge the fonts further -- is to use the Stylish extension.

(1) Stylish extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/

(2) Custom style: https://userstyles.org/styles/122394/url-bar-tweaks-remove-visit-search-limit-width

If the largest available size still isn't big enough, let me know and I can explain how to customize it further.

I think there must be a way to make the theme and the custom style rule work together. If you want to experiment, you could try this:

  • Open the Add-ons page (Command+Shift+a or Tools > Add-ons)
  • In the left column, click User Styles
  • On the right side, click the Edit button for the URL Bar Tweaks style

In the editor, the font settings probably are toward the bottom, well, I guess it depends on which "style" you selected. The size for the URL will be in the part similar to this:

#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem:not([actiontype="searchengine"]) .ac-url,
#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem:not([actiontype="searchengine"]) .ac-action {
  font-size: 14px;
}

or this:

#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem:not([actiontype="searchengine"]) .ac-url,
#PopupAutoCompleteRichResult .autocomplete-richlistitem:not([actiontype="searchengine"]) .ac-action {
  position: absolute !important;
  left: 54px;
  top: 22px;
  font-size: 14px;
}

To make it larger, edit the 14px to 16px or something else and click the Preview button. Then type into the address bar and see whether the size works for you. Once you find a good size, click Save. If things go haywire, close the tab without saving to return to the original version.

Dear, jscher2000

Thank you once again for your help & sorry for my late reply I've been busy.

For the code your provided me, I adjust the font size to 16px. Furthermore, I set the drop down menu width to the following below:

Set drop-down width */

  1. PopupAutoCompleteRichResult {
 width: 1200px !important;
 max-width: 1200px !important;
 margin-left: 0 !important;

After trying the codes out on the FireFox default theme everything is fine, but for the Simple White X Theme in the drop down menu the websites address are smaller than the title of the sites.

Anyways, I decided to use FireFox default theme for now. Personally, I do enjoy the Simple White X Theme all my tabs were arrange in small tabs. It gave me much more space to do things.

Thanks

I notice the Simple White X theme was updated three times this month already, so if you submit a suggestion to the developer about allowing a different font size in the drop-down, maybe you could get it in a future update.

Dear, jscher2000

I just submit a suggestion to the developer on the matter, I hope this new change on FireFox is not permanent.

Anyways, thank you so much for all your help.

Dear, jscher2000

Just to give on an update on the matter, after I submit my problem to the developer of the Simple White theme as you suggested.

I had to work with the developer & try out a few codes on styles to solve the problem. I was suggested by the developer to try the following code below

.autocomplete-richlistitem, .ac-url-text, .ac-action-text {

 font-size: 16px !important;

}

As a result, all the fonts in the address bar drop down menu are now all large :)

Thank you for your suggestion, I would have not been able to fix the problem if you didn't provide me with guidance.

Regards.

I have the font change problem also and so far none of the suggestions have worked. On my Win 10 system, my bookmark bar, search bar, and all tab are very small, I think about size 8 or maybe less. Very hard to read. I tried both links above, but not sure what to do with them. When I select styles, I have no edit button. Themes, I only list the default. All links and bookmarks do work, it a matter of being able to read them.

Hi lynn1102, since all your bars are affected, I suggest starting a new thread.

If you have been using the Theme Font & Size Changer, there have been some glitches with recent updates. Check that you have the latest version, and/or try an older version from August:

Thanks for the suggestion. So far nothing has helped. To give an example: My toolbar across the top used to have 7 seven bookmarks in it. Now the type is small enough to get 13 bookmarks in it. The search bar is the same size, as are the new windows tabs across the top. The rest of the type and print in the main screen are fine. Will try a new thread.
