Why can't I sort folders?
I created a folder under Bookmarks Menu with several sub-folders in Firefox v.45.0 but I cannot sort them. I must do it manually. Is there something I'm missing? Thank you.

What happens when you choose Sort by Name -- the items in the folder stay out of order?
Yes. So I tried the extension "SimpleSort Bookmarks" and the sub-folders were sorted alphabetically. Thanks for your input

The context menu for a folder on the Bookmarks Menu should show "Sort by Name". On Windows, you can right-click the folder, probably on Mac you Ctrl+click the folder. Does that work?
For the top level of the menu itself, you need to right-click Bookmarks Menu in either the:
- Bookmarks Sidebar
- Command+b, or from the Bookmarks toolbar button: "View Bookmarks Sidebar"
- Library dialog
- Command+Shift+b, or from the Bookmarks Menu: "Show All Bookmarks"
Does that work?

No.
What happens when you choose Sort by Name -- the items in the folder stay out of order? Or is Sort by Name missing from the menu?

Why are they sorted in the sidebar view but not in the pull-down view? And why is an add on necessary? Chaos should not be the default setting.
I'm surprised if the sidebar has a different order from the menu. That's confusing.
Anyway, the default setting is adding new bookmarks at the end of the list. Chronological order is not alphabetical order but it's not "chaos."
I stand corrected. It is not chaos. I'm just glad that the Contacts in my iphone aren't in the order that they were added, or the addresses of the houses on our streets assigned in the order that they were built.
