most of those reporting issues are using defender and find that if they create an exception for the Thunderbird process in defender that their lockups end.

I have Defender turned off and use AVG as my firewall. There has to be a simple solution for why Thunderbird hangs up in Windows.

Have you tried disabling email scanning in AVG? There have been lots of folk with issues on Windows 10. Almost all of them came back to anti virus/defender. A few were a bug in the resume from sleep where mail was simply not retrieved. But I am not aware of any specific Windows 10 bug around locking up.

I am living with it. It seems a little better. I am finding Libre Office also locks up. My email address is [email protected]. If I could get your email address I can make a log every time the problem arises and then after a month send you a log.

It just locked up after I responded. I had to go to Task Manager to clear T-bid.
